mini me - more like mini z...

Davis is, no doubt, Zach's son. In so many ways.....

He eats all the time. Just after I think he's full, he'll turn around and want to eat more. I bet he sees Zach doing the same thing. After dinner, Zach gets up to see if there is anything else in the cabinets that should have made it to his plate. On the weekends, the doors to the pantry stay open all the time. No need to close them, Zach searches for new food to apparate in the cabinets every 10 minutes.

Despite my sleep deprivation, Davis is doing great and pushing 9 lbs now. A pudge boy now, he doesn't look like the same baby we met for the first time three weeks ago. Davis Heffernan Trogdon is his new alias.

Even though Davis is packing on the lbs, and Zach rarely seems to gain weight - Davis looks more and more like Zach everyday. From his head to his toes. Everything he has it looks as if he got from Zach. We are all still waiting on the eye color though. All of Zach's family is pulling for brown eyes. (They all have blue.) All of my family is hoping for blue eyes. (All brown and green here.) It is the same concept of you want what you don't have. However, seeing as Davis is a miniature version of his dad. I'm starting to hope for brown eyes, too. Then I'll definitely be able to say he got something besides his sense of humor from me. :)

baby about town

our stroller arrived today! and for new moms that spells f - r - e - e - d - o - m. freedom to take walks outside. freedom to go to the store. freedom to take up the entire aisle at the store. freedom from the inside of your house that you feel like you have been quarantined to for the past six weeks. sweet relief.

what is great about the stroller's arrival is that it is also early. i was not expecting it on our doorstep for another two weeks. and i love this stroller because it also converts to a rear facing, semi-carriage for newborns. thank you darlene for davis' first wheels. we'll call on you again in sixteen years. just kidding :)

see you on the town!

happy father's day

Zach now has the first installments of his official collection of Father's Day shirts. Davis picked out two fine polos for his new Dad. And I knew that as long as they came from a LL Bean package, the shirts were sure to be well received.

We have spent the day watching World Cup Soccer and US Open Golf Tournament. I'm sure we'll end Father's Day with the NBA Finals tonight as well. Golf, soccer, basketball, presents, good beer, a hot grill, a newborn son and no requests from your wife asking to watch something other than sports for a while. Who could ask for a more perfect 1st Father's Day? I wonder what will future Father's Days hold?

This is a picture of the proud papa at the hospital holding Davis for the first time. And here are other Davis measurements we forgot to include before:

a wingspan of 21 inches - to guard future baskets with
large 3.5 inch baby feet - all the better to dribble a ball with
180 degree flexibility - for mastering the perfect golf swing
springloaded quads & thighs - sure to be dunking a basketball in no time at all

Here's to many more Father's Days and Good Sports.

welcome to the world, baby boy!

Davis has arrived! Quite the early bird, joining us six weeks early - but he is very healthy and we could not be happier. Thank you all for your thoughts, best wishes and prayers!
