beauty and the beast

"argh ha!ha!ha!" davis laughs. he is the silliest little boy in the world. he loves to say, "cheeeeze!" with the toothiest grin on his face. pull out the camera and he's already posing. in this picture we told him he could go crazy.


davis loves allison. he wants to check on her first thing in the morning and talk to her all through out the day. last week, i had to take him out of daycare in the middle of the day to go get his followup to his flu shot. because i always pick up allison first at the end of the day, he knew something was missing and headed straight for the infant room. we checked in on little sister and then the two of us started for the door. not okay. davis screamed and reached for the swing that allison was in. all the way to the doctor's office he cried as if we were leaving allison behind for good.






















but as much as he loves his little sister, we think she loves him more. no one can make her light up or laugh like big brother davis. she hears him come in the room and beams. "so what if he hits me a few times here and there. i actually like it when he bounces my chair too hard. he'll get his turn. i'm not THAT far behind...."

snow day

the grass is always greener on the other side. davis wishes to be outside playing in the snow and rio wants to be inside curled up on the bed. each one wonders if the other can do something about the situation.

oh well, we'll make a day of it anyway. let's see what davis gets into.....

i think i fill these boots out just fine. can't i wear them to school tomorrow?

my little valentine

davis and a classmate before their valentine's party yesterday. i wish i had more time to update, but i have meeting i'm already late for. wanted to share how big davis is getting!

what great form. davis is already practicing for his turn in the spotlight. zach had "tivo-ed" a coldplay concert on austin city limits a year ago in hopes that it would help davis to settle down when it came time to try and get him to bed. davis took to the group so much we now have 4 or 5 different coldplay programs recorded and saved.

now, however, instead of calming the boy down. these shows rev him up. as soon as the music begins, he immediately begins dancing around the den with a little hop/step, hop/step, wave the arms jig. he'll even clap with the audience after a performance.

santa brought davis a electronic keyboard for christmas which we have laid out on the entertainment console under the tv. tonight zach caught davis setting up his own little stage and piano by pushing the ottoman over to his keyboard and standing on the ottoman to play along with chris martin. just wait. he'll be touring in a town near you in 2032.

yes, we're a little backwards around here these days, and davis is the master of it all. had a great christmas playing with new toys, puzzles and rides.

allison hasn't quite gotten used to the flash on the camera. as you might have noticed she is wide-eyed in almost all of her pictures. but still the cutie. she sure would make a good little elf with those ears of hers. davis, however, is the mischievous elf. following after you to unwrap the corner of a nicely wrapped present or to take down ornaments placed thoughtfully on a limb. or perhaps like in the picture below, it is to smear a little taste off the newly built gingerbread house. but everyone is happy, healthy and in good Christmas spirits....well most the time....

an apple a day

doesn't keep davis away. here they are in between takes for the christmas card picture. the final shots are on the way to your mailboxes, so you will have to wait to see the chosen picture!

we tried to take davis to see santa clause this year. he didn't quite grasp the idea that this was the man who makes all christmas lists and wishes come true. in fact, the moment zach put him on santa's lap, davis was squealing to get off! allison was a trooper. i think she saw santa's lap as another nice warm place to lounge.

davis is quite fond of christmas trees, christmas parades and rolls of wrapping paper. he likes to take all ornaments off the tree and drop them on the ground. loves the sirens and lights of police cars as the lead the parade down the street. and thinks that wrapping paper is meant to be used as a bat to hit the walls, dogs, sister and mother. he is definitely programmed to be a boy.

allison couldn't be happier than in your lap or arms. she loves people to be in her face at all times so she can flirt, smile and talk away. our little social butterfly.
